Ant-Janos

After taking a few exciting shots yesterday, my camera completely crapped out. Basically, it would not start. It seems to be a common model with a camera of my series and people usually experience this within the first few weeks/months of purchase and thus are covered with warranty but I'm already 4 years in.

So what happened? Well, my Canon Rebel XS (aka 1000D) would not boot its display and when the viewfinder was used it'd just say "Busy". This is known as Error 99 and it's caused by the firmware 1.06. Wellll, my lazy ass did NOT update my system and this just happened. If I had updated, my camera would have been fine.

This is a lesson for all of you.

So what's the next course of action? Call Canon, see if they can repair it for free. There's not a single canon store in the area which is really fucking unfortunate. Users online said that the repairs they were quoted ranged between $200-$300 which is the cost of my camera (a used one runs $280+ and is of the same quality/wear as mine). Some users said that helpful Canon techs were able to reset/upgrade their system to 1.07 for $20 or so. That'd be fucking great but idk. I saw only 1 person say this. I considered taking the camera apart and resetting its memory somehow but i'm not sure if that's possible.

This is really shitty :/

I decided to get back on DA. I'm actually doing something artistic now (3D modeling) and I'm writing often as well (poetry + prose) and I've been putting it up on my Tumblr a lot but I feel like this is a better place for it. It's much better organized.

I also decided that I'll get rid of my old "wajanus.deviantart.com" account and merge the deviations there with this account. I wish I could change the display name :/ but alas, I can't so I'll just stick with it and make up a story why the username says "janos" instead of "janus".

I'm starting a new project. Screw photography lol, I don't really have time for it. I'll get back to it when I can, when I find time, and when I find inspiration (I NEED A PHOTO MUSE ).
So here's the plan, I finished my LONG poetry series called a Chaos Organized (achaosorganized.blogspot.com/) with a total of 30-something poems. It's just like my epic poems (Insomniac, Flashback, Drunken Poesie. Look that shit up in my gallery) but it's more segmented with a variable style. Basically, all the poems are really different from each other. It's less centralized around an idea as, let's say, Insomniac was. Whatever. It's done, you should go read it, there's nothing as awesome as this thing was. Blah blha, what was I saying?

Oh yeah, new project. First of all, I'm kind of re-working some good old awesome stuff (DreamLand in particular), some old poems. Putting a spin on those works with my newer style and enthusiasm for literature. Watch out for that shit.

BUT< MY MAIN PROJECT is a SHORT STORY series, that's right short stories. I don't write a lot of those anymore, never have, but here I am, making a short story series. Each "story" or "chapter" will include some kind of an abstract painting/drawing. One of my friends is helping me out. It's called "Flight Through DreamLand" based on the DreamLand stories, but more united. It's kind of like a spiritual journey. You'll love it
